Monologue with lighting and Staging

If I had to choose a monologue or songalogue to set up with good staging and elements of acting I would use is Jeff's songalogue when he used Bruno Mars I was your man. I would have done it differently than what Jeff did. Instead of my character looking out the window I would have had a bed as a prop and start off depressed in bed and kind of talk to myself in the mirror. Once I talk about how I should have danced with her, I would have done a dance that we always shared and have roses next to my bed set so when I say "I should have brought you flowers" reminisce about old times while softly touching the flower pedals. The role would have been played in many different emotions. You can do a lot with this skit and add a lot of different emotions by going from sad, once he starts to realize what he's lost , after being sad you can become mad at yourself for regretting dancing with her, holding her hand , or not buying her flowers. Costumes can be different kind of anything depending on how you want to play the role. For sound you can either have the song lightly playing in the background, or have it playing softly. Most likely the music will be playing softly so the audience can hear the action and for that the actor would have to speed up his or her pace of the songalogue to stay on beat. The blocking for this is simply you can move however yo want you also have a lot of props so you would have to just be aware. Just make sure your back isn't turned to the audience and also remember that the scene is taking place in a bedroom.
